A massive Amazon warehouse application was rejected in March 2023 due to it being the wrong development in the wrong place and attracting 2000 objections from residents and local councillors.

In August 2023 Amazon stated that they will not be appealing that decision and are no longer considering the site for development. Read more here:

Controversial M62 Amazon warehouse plans REJECTED in landmark decision Delight in Cleckheaton as Amazon confirms it will not pursue rejected warehouse plans

A warehouse development application at Weekley Hall Wood in Kettering was rejected in January 2024 following an inquiry by the inspectorate, which in no small part was brought about by a campaign group similar to ourselves. Read more here:

Kettering warehouse park campaign victory is perfect example of people power

In Jan 2024 the Government Planning Inspectorate appeal upheld WNC’s refusal for 18 warehouses near Brackmills, saying ‘it would be an intrusion into countryside and the large, bulky buildings would harm the views from towns’, as well as closing the gap between a built up area and Great Houghton village. Northampton: Plan for 18 warehouses in open countryside dismissed

In Sept 2024 WNC’s Strategic Planning Committee (SPC) made the decision to reject the proposed DHL warehouse development further up the A5 at Towcester, citing its inappropriateness for the historic town and surrounding countryside. The ‘Save Towcester Now’ group have campaigned against this monstrous development (comprising three enormous warehouses) for the past three years. Several people - including MP for South Northants, Sarah Bool - spoke at the SPC meeting, with strong arguments against the development that will be relevant when Furtho goes to the SPC. This victory for Towcester has strengthened FDOG’s resolve and determination to fight on. Read more here:

What You Can Do...

Object & Object Again

We need to keep objecting each time a revision is made to the application. The applicant has recently submitted new documents in February 2025. The deadline for comments/objections was originally updated to March 15th, but has since been extended to March 30th 2025. However, all objections will still be considered up until the decision date (as yet unknown). Even if you have already submitted an objection, it is important that you do so again based on the revised planning documents.
